looking for brake upgrades for my 98 1.5 protege

as far as i know there are no actual upgrade kits... you have two options... just get better rotors and pads you can get x-drilled and slotted rotors off ebay for a good price

or you can put on the hubs calipers and rotors from the 1.8L engine which are a little bigger... these are the only two options i know of

From what I understand, if you want to go for bigger brake rotors and such, you'll need at LEAST 17 inch rims. Then you can get a big brake upgrade which I don't really know anything about. :) i've read about it on Bruce's page. Other than that, go for cross drilled/slotted rotors and new brake pads with stainless steel lines. Thats about all I know for brakes :)

ES models and Canadian LX models have 9inch frt discs, yours are 8inch and rear discs if you could find one in a junk yard you need the frt calipers and rotors and rear knuckles ,calipers and rotors.

Why do you want to upgrade your brakes? What problems are you having .. ?

I already have 17 x 7 in. rims im looking for something to fill that opening in the wheel a little better for looks and better performance.

How would i make my rear drums into rear disks?

There are a few companies that make rotors and pads for our cars. I would suggest gettin some brembo rotors and either KVR or Stillen Metal Matrix pads

Well if you got 17's right now, try and go for a BIG brake upgrade. You'll surely make performance alot better but that'll be REAL expensive seeing in how u have to change alot of brake components. Probably 1k. Go to protosport and look on some of his articles. It had a page dealing with rotor installation and on that page it also had big brake upgrades.
