I need some help..
Hey guys, since i have a 97 protege, and there arent any performance parts for it, i was gonna try lowering my car to make it handle better.. that way it would make it seem like it was a little faster. i searched ebay for a lowering kit, and i came accross this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW
i was wondering, is this the only thing i need to buy to lower my car? or do i have to buy new shocks or anything like that? (sorry guys, i'm pretty new at this stuff.. so i dont know much). it said in the description that i might also need to buy a camber kit. how do i know if i need to buy that or not? any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time

I can tell you that getting a strut bar (nothing fancy like DC or whatever, they all do the same thing) will help a lot...at least in the turn-in crispness. I'm still running stock springs and all that stuff, so it still leans like stock. It just sticks to the road better and makes cuts better.
As far as the coilovers go, they should fit if the seller is telling the truth (obviously). Get shocks to go with those springs though. When you do a drop, springs and shocks are near, if not mandatory to swap out/in together....especially if you are a hard driver. It is possible do just do springs, but you're killing your stock shocks big time since their travel length has been greatly reduced to almost full pressure position (as if you loaded an extra ton or bunch of weight onto your car with stock suspension--your shocks are compressed a lot). Plus springs and no shocks gives you that total crapola ride quality complete with the sickening oscilations after going over anything resembling a bump (again, shocks already too compressed to be of any dampening use).
Ya, it'll cost more money, but it's worth it. I wish I could drop my car, but practicality for now rules a no. Good luck, man.

money is a little tight right now, so i'll probabally just stick with a sway bar for now.. i dont have enough money to buy good springs and shocks and all that stuff. thanks for all the help, i'll keep that in mind if i ever save up enough cash

I lowered my car with some B&G Sport springs and some standard struts (nothing brand name or anything). The difference on my 95 protege is like going from a boat to a go-cart. Little more bumpy, but worth it when your zipping around through the turns! Very easy to do too! Took maybe an hour and a half to do it (including returning of the wrong size rear struts). btw it was a 1.5" drop, sexy!
