GAB shocks

ok, on the GC site, under the application guide, it says that we must have struts 1, or 10 for the 2nd gen proteges....

now does this mean that the GC's wont fit with the mazdaspeed struts?
because strut 1 is stock
and strut 10 is gab

i didnt even know GAB made struts for our car..
and i was set on using the mazdaspeed....

if anyone knows, id appreciate the help
thanks

The GAB struts and the Mazdaspeeds (at least for the 1st and 2nd gens) are made by KYB. So the Mazdaspeeds should work fine.

The first-gens are made by KYB. I have them on my car. They replaced a set of GABs that were also made by KYB. I know the 3rd gen is mixed. One end is made by Tokico (5-way adjust) and the other end by KYB (4-way). I'm pretty sure that the 2nd-gen (4-way F/R) are made by KYB.

Koni struts are continously variable, and don't have steps.

i think the koni and the mazdaspeed were three way adjustable....

also, whats the difference between a strut and a strut insert?

Pigeon Nov 19, 2002 12:36 AM

do u know whether the konis can be used with the ground control coils?

Pigeon Nov 19, 2002 09:24 AM

oh wow,

i didnt even know that

so i could put the koni inserts in my current struts and everything will fit according to factory?

awesome

now to adjust it, where would the nut be on the inserts?
in the strut tower under the hood, or by the steering knuckle?
