cutting springs
 

Has anyone cut the springs to lower the car? i want to lower my 95 pro just an inch maybe an inch and a half and thought about just cutting my springs but i was curious if anyone has done that or knows if that is an ok thing to do.

lol ill be the first to tell you, cutting springs is GHETTOOOOO....

i just say, dont be cheap, go and buy a nice set of springs, they arent that expensive.

are there any springs for my year pro that will only lower an inch to an inch and a half? the only ones i know lower it 2 or 2.5 inches

H&R 1.3" I am able to get a set for $276CDN plus taxes to give you a rough idea.

P.S. I don't agree with cutting springs either. There's not a lot of dead coils to cut IMO.

intraxes will lower the car very good at 1.75 inches , shoot I have BG's and they are cool ,, they lower the same as intrax ,,, you will have no problems... if your gonna lower the car 1" then you might as well just chill with the factory height and get rims ... to be honest that i what I would do ,..

I didn't have money to buy suspension so I got some spring compressors. I put'em on all the springs It cameout pretty good. It's a little lower in the back but It's slightly stiffer. If you're interested to see how it came out click on my signature link.

what are they, how much do they cost and will they do any harm to my springs or struts?

Well if I'm not mistaken they cost like $12/ea pair and they pull together two coils on the spring. In other words it compresses it. I don't think they do TOO much harm. They are used to compress the springs when you replace shocks. The only thing is that after you mount them, you should periodically check to make sure they aren't comming loose and you should also cut off the extra length of bolt that is left out cause if not it eventually might rub on the upper part of the spring.

where would you got to buy them???? And how hard are they to put on. Cuase I think that might be what I'm looking for instead of spending a lot of money for some springs!!!!!

I got mine at Western Auto but I think they sell them in a few places. They are some trouble to start them 'cause our factory ride height is -I consider- way to high and so after you compress them a little with some vise grips you start the thread and you will keep going (tightening) when you finish tightening them try to cut off what's left of the bolt so they don't grind on the above coils. You can do this with something like a Roto-Zip. When you look for them you should ask for some SPRING COMPRESSORS.

you think you could show me a pic of how it looks with out your wells on it so I can see what it is suppose to look like????

hey bro if you do it that way...take out your springs and make sure you both on oppisite sides of the spring. Like if your looking down on the spring from the top of it make sure they are both in the middle. one here -o- and one straight across from it...that was kinda an example like the 'o' is the spring and the '- -' are the clamps. Otherwise if its is off it will cause the wheels to toe...all of them...in about 2 months...i did it and had to buy new tires. So now i got CHEAP ass tires. Anyway just be careful. Othere than the toe there was no damage to springs (except the crimp marks from putting them on.) And even though you put one on and it dosen't look that low...after you put on the others it will look lower. And your handling will be better!

If you try and do it that way...does your car bounce like the car's that heat there springs/cut them!!!!!
