Clunking
 

I have a 95 ES 1.8 DOHC with 16" rims and KYB struts. I don't know how old the struts are. I have spring compressors on the springs and I replaced the rack and pinion and sway bar bushings aprox 4 months ago. I'm hearing a clunking noise sometimes when I turn the steering wheel. If I'm stopped or moving slowly and I pull the steering wheel abruptly to the left I can hear a clunking noise on my passenger front wheel. I made sure that my lug nuts are tight and jacked the car up and pulled and pushed on the wheel to see if I hear a clunking noise. I did this to see if it was the tie-rod but I didn't hear any play. Any ideas? I was told when I aligned my car that my struts are slightly bent. Don't think that I drive into holes on purpose it's just that I live in Puerto Rico and those that have come here know what I'm talking about.

try this... going slowly in an open area try turning the wheel almost all the way left and drive in a slow circle... do you hear the clunking? then try it to the right hand side... if you hear clunking noises it might be that your CV joints need to be replaced.

Just something to check.

Naw it's not the CV joint. I've replaced those before and I know what that sounds like. It not a cliking or clacking it's a clunk (deep) I think it sound as if the wheel were loose (never heard THAT personally), but I've cheked the lug nuts.

if at a full stop , when you turn the wheal from lock to lock and you hear a clunking sounding , then that is your front strut mounts

"turn the wheal from lock to lock" ? What do you mean lock? Do you mean to the stop (till the steering wheel can't turn anymore)?
I was wondering if it could be the strut mounts. There are upper one and lower ones right? Which one should I get? Upper ones?

there are only upper mounts , and just turn the wheal all the way from one end to ther other

ok i got a clunking problem also.....

When i am driving slowly i can hear a clunck, clunk, clunk from one of the wheels, i dunno which one.... I tried using Disc Break quieter and it worked for a little while, but recently you can hear a clunck (it's kinda a deep clunck but also high pitched at the same time) only at slow speeds, and you can't feel any "vibrations" from it in the car........
