Turn signal causes headlight failure....

Anyone else had this problem? On my '95 DX, if you use the turn signal the headlights go out but after turn signal will usually come back on. The used dealer has the car and said they're going to fix but was wondering if anyone else has had this happen or what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Actually it may be a recall....see links

This may very well be a recall according to these links. If so, then I should be able to get a Mazda dealer to fix it if the used dealer I'm getting the car from can't.

According to your explanation (Skater69), a friend of mine had a similar problem with his 98 Honda Prelude. We took the signal arm apart from the steering column, and found out that coppper-like connection worn out (result no current). The design is that parking-lights, head-lights, signal-lights, are in one package 'switch control', copper-like connections wear out in time, especially in absence of grease. The only way, for us, is to find a replacement 'switch conrtol' unit from a wreck-yard. I hope this helps you in some way (Skater69). Another problem could be crossed-wire somewhere, from the 'switch control' to the lights. :dunno:
