list of mods

can some one help me out i need a list of mods that i can do to my 95 LX. Either engine or non(no body kits please). I got the money thats no prob. i want the coolest/one of the fastest at my school. we have cars like a 97' integra(v-tech) 95' viper, but i want my car to be faster than an escort gt. what r the best mods and where can i find info on how to do this?

for the 1.5L you have two options if you want to go fast...
have a custom turbo done
or you can put in the 1.8L engine which has tons of options for cutomizing the engine
for the 1.5L all i've found is better spark plugs and wires, ractive short ram intake, and someone is making a phenolic gasket for the headers that is all i konw of anything else must be custom made and will cost and might not give the hp to back up the money spent the 1.8L swap is under discussion and bruce will be finishing it up by the end of the summer maybe sooner. check in the engine drivetrain section

more info

how much more HP's will the reactive intake give me and will it be noticable in my speed. and whats this phenolic gasket?

protegeboy78 April-23rd-2003 06:49 PM

the intake will give around 5 i'd guess and i did notice a difference especially with a wire mesh filter on it. the phenolic hting i really don't know what it will do

in all honestly, how much more hp will a custom turbo for the 1.5 give it. i mean i'm thinking of doing a whole bunch of stuff but swapping would be mad expensive and risky. if the turbo gives some significant gains then it may be worth it.

it isn't expensive or risky... dropping in a 2nd gen 1.8L can very easily be done for under 2 grand and i don't know of any risks unless you do it alone with no experienced people to help

boricua April-25th-2003 08:25 PM

ok, how bout the turbo for my current 1.5 engine then?

i don't really know how much it would cost... the turbo itself costs 400-500 and then i don't know what else you need and the costs

protegeboy78 April-26th-2003 08:20 AM

I was told an entired turbo set up custom made for the 1.5 would end up costing arond 3 grand. i'm not sure how much hp you would get out of it though

I went to a shop here in orlando and asked how much it would be to install a T2 turbo in my 95 1.5L protege and they want to charge me $2,300 with everything custom made for my car.. even with intercooler and 3 guages... boost, exhaust temp, and oil pressure...... I'm still looking for a cheaper place.....

and whats this phenolic gasket
That is an inexpensive way to isolate the heat transfer from your head to the intake manifold. Doing this would keep your intake charge cooler, making more power.

How much power? Depends on where you're driving. On the freeway with all that airflow it wouldn't make much difference. After sitting at a stoplight and the engine heat has soaked everything, it makes a big difference...like 50 degrees cooler, so roughly a 5% increase in take off power across the board.

But if you saw the other thread, not enough people were interested enough for me to bother producing them. I did pick up a phenolic sheet that I will be cutting for my personal use. Should help quite a bit this summer.

no offense, but you'r better off getting a '96 integra ;)

anyway, just my opinion, dont flame.

demoninvictus May-26th-2003 04:13 AM

*breaks out the flame thrower*
anyway, research turbo setups, you'll get a good grasp of what you need exactly. unfortunately, i don't know of any packages for turbo setups for 2nd gen's. go to your local speed shop and ask around. as for the integra, why a 96? why not no integra at all?
peace
