How/where can i get dyno runs for cheap?
 

I am modding my car bit by bit and i'd love to see some numbers everytime i make a mod. Dyno shops in Houston, TX charge about $75 per session, which i guess is about average. The thing is that i cannot justify paying $75 for a few hours just to see some solid numbers. I'd rather put that money into future mods. The way i wanna do it... dyno expenses will add up to over 1000 buxs in the first 3 or 4 months.

Please enlighten me on my cheaper alternatives. (i'd like numbers and some sort of graph to go with it)

Get a G-tech...people will argue about whether it works or not.
I have one and it's been pretty accurate for me. It's not as good a dyno tuning session but it will give you a before and after comparison for each mod you do without running down to the dyno.

$75? For how long?
In Austin it's $160 per hour with a wideband O2 sensor

we used to have a local shop do dyno days... i think it was about $65 per pull (i never did make it out there). but the guy is going back to school so he is giving up the race shop bidness. he was in richmond and was a nissan freak. no one knew the sr20 better than him and his boys.

try local race shops. try to get in with the local race crowd, they should be able to help...

EDIT: the cheapest way is to check your plugs and to take a stop watch with you on your daily commute and time yourself at stoplights! of course the weather and road-cond will vary your times, but if you do it often enough, you should be able to get some idea. also keep track of your gas milage. that is a hint to what is going on as well.

As for the Gtech, the one i really like is the Competition version...and it's over $250 :(

Still there is hope... (i think).I found this software dyno proggy on the net. A lot of people (on the web) say that it works and the results are pretty close to their dyno shop numbers. Unfortunately, i can't get it to work right. (my numbers are WAY off...)

i live in houston too...and some car clubs ive been in ive seen dynos for like $30 and shit...visit Htown Racing and ask some of the guys there where there are some good deals...i post on there as "LowImprt"
