High idle
O.k., my car has been idling high in highway traffic for some reason. Its not a vacuum leak. What will happen, stop and go highway traffic, drive in first gear, coast, and then stop. It'll be idling around 1200 or so. If I rev it up a little bit then it will drop back to normal. Once, just for the hell of it I put it in gear and then slipped the clutch to see if that would bring it down but it didn't.
I don't think the throttle cable is sticking, would it be the Throttle Position Sensor, or the Idle Air Control? HOw can I check out the two to see if one of them is the problem?? |

i had the same problem and it got worse and hit like 3,000rpm's after a couple of months. and i brought it in and it was a idle air control very expensive part

fuck. Is there any way that I can clean it out in hopes that it is just full of crap??

.
if it is the idle air control valve no u cant clean it. wut is wrong with the iac if it is it of course is inside of it there a little spring the when the gas is pressed there is the spring alows gas/air to flow throw at even amounts when wut is most likely wrong is when the car is idleing it sticks and keeps the air/gas flowing to much which will cause your high idle
