exhaust problems again
I don't know if this is anyones elses problem, or just happens to be an unlikely occurance, but i seem to have another crack in my exhaust pipe from the cat to muffler. This is the second time or maybe third time it'll have to be fixed since i've owned the car which would be from 2000 to now. I mean i'd like to do a complete exhaust setup, but if its just gonna break within a years time, i don't see the need for a minimal 5 some hp gain. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem.

every damn year virtually, I have had to change my exhaust set up , due to damn exhaust pipping messing up .. To be honest If I could do it again , I would just buy the damn full cat back system...
Bruce Bosal makes one, check their site |
same here
cracked my first one earlier in the year and now im hearing its common prob with my car it cracks right in the cast iron headpipe and its a pain in the ass and expensive to get welded next time mine breaks its a new stainless steel weldable exhaust with a performance cat or even no cat at all (no emission laws here) |
Found the problem
I got under the car last night after being busy then sick then busy again for the last week. I was trying to change the oil and and i'm sure you know that its in the worst place possible and the I socket i picked up yesterday is too big and the F is too small for the the filter mazda put on last inspection. It need a 60 thou checkup so i'll just have them put on the m1 filter and i won't have a problem changing it myself down the road.
ANYWAY... the cheap mieneke (sp?) job took its toll. A subpar weld after the pre-silencer makes the pipe move in and out, hence the car fluctuates from sounding like a helicoptor to hooptie. I'm very interested in the Brullen Exhausts: read great things about them, all stainless steel, not too loud, *Lifetime Warranty* Bosals are nice too Bruce. I couldn't find the specific catback, or much info. I'll be contacting both companies and from there will decide. |
Ive never have a problem. What climate do yall live in? Also it might be going through water or snow after running it hard.

I believe "Location" would tell you a general idea of what climate we live in. If you have know idea of what climate Philly or NY is then there's something wrong. And want do you mean "going through water or snow after running it hard"? are you referring to some sort of thermal shock? A: i don't drive my car through several inches of rain, and B: since the exhaust was fixed last its been driven maybe once this winter in deep snow but not feet of it. Although road salt cold be the culprit if you know what kind of winter the NE had this year.

Just got this back from Bosal:
Jeff, If you are looking for a performance exhaust we do not make one for your car, the only thing we can offer you are our universal mufflers. Thanks Mick mailform@bosalperfo |
oh well , A while ago I found a diagram on their site for our cars.
Our exhausts are different from the 3rd gens to , so that idea must be scraped ... Bruce |
