Door Warning Light
 
all of a sudden my door light stays on(in my 96 1.5L) even when all the doors are closed...i unplugged all the senors and everything to see if it would shut off and nada...i dont know whats wrong with it...anyone else have this problem???

hey, have u tried taking the main fuse out and waiting about 20-40 secs to see if it resets. cos sometimes the comp. goes crazy and reads, well, whatever it wants to.

Sounds like your door pillar switch wire is grounded I think its the red with yellow tracer wire and it will sometimes break and touch the body causing the circuit to be complete.

i think u would want to check that out. kansei is probably right cos i spoke to a friend who fixes cars and he thinks it`s having some contact.

so where exactly do i check for this...its the switch that pushes in when the door is closed right??? i pulled all of em out and disconnected em and it still said door open so...im lost :(

I think there is a join where the pass. side wires join in I believe its under the drivers scuff plate.Also does your dome light stay on when set to door mode?

yup...i had to switch it to off so it wouldnt stay on all the time...

now that really sounds like the wiring is grounded. start at the drivers scuff plate, thats the join and the most common part to break, and work back to the doors . Also if you done any mods lately that required screwing something down or you removed panels check there you may have pinched a wire.Hope this helps.

thanx man...im gonna try and figure it out this sunday...hopefully i can make it work...thanx for the hints tho :cool:

update...i tried looking under all 4 scuff plates and there is seemingly no wires messed up at all...so now im stumped....maybe its time to take it to a mechanic or a mazda dealership???
