Changing wheel bearing.

Well the bearing on the passenger side needs to be changed, is it a big job to change the bearing, I changed one on an older car, a 1984 dodge :P but I dont know about this one, btw its a 97 protege automatic and also do you guys know off a website that can show me how to do it myself with pics etc :) Thanks.

Anyways I am new to this site and want to say hello, I dont personnaly own a protege, its my wife car hehe, I wanted to post that in the tech section but the last post there was in september :P Thanks guys for the help.

I believe they are pressed in, both front and back, I'm not sure of the procedure myself, because I've never had to do it on my car but its definitely not as easy as the old dodge wheelbearings :) You might want to take this one to a mechanic.

I'll let you know tomorrow...I've got a pair of bearings that are being replaced.
It's my understanding they have to be pressed in. I'll be taking off my hubs and taking the new bearings to a machine shop. They should be able to press them in and then I reinstall the hubs.

The bearings were $40 each.

And I will never run wheel spacers again. Ever.

Yep, had to have the old bearings pressed out and the new ones pressed in by a machine shop.

I took the hubs out with minimal drama. Only "special" tool needed is a 32mm socket for the axle nut. The BF Hammer solves many problems.
