arcing sparkplug wires?

Do 1.5L engines have a problem with wires cause twice since i've owned the car (just over a year) I have had to change the spark plug wires due to arcing and now i think they are arcing again, the engine sounds all funny and there is a slight ticking noise. is there anything i can do to help avoid this problem both times they said moisture got into the wires.

I don't know if that's the problem but IF it is and you're suspecting moisture from getting into the plugs. The only two things I can think of are... (if you wash your motor) blow the water away from the farthest left sparkplug towards the right. So no water can accumulate. The other thing is make sure those plugs are on NICE AND TIGHT. Make sure there is a good seal because that's what the rubber boots are for.

yeah i ocassionally wash my engine so that may have done it, i put new wires and plugs in and the engine is working great. I noticed that the wires don't make a good seal so i'm going to put a little silicone around the lip to help them seal, is that a good idea?

Well everytime you wash your motor be carefull not to soak these things

alternator
distributor
fuse boxes
spark plugs
After you rinse make sure to blow the water away from the dead end on the valve cover. Blow it towards the distributor. And I recommend that you start the motor and let it run a while, after you've rinsed so the water dries up in certain areas.

Regarding the silicone... I honestly do not know if that would be good or bad.
