antifreeze in engine

listen, i went to check my oil and when i open the hood, i smell and see what looks like antifreeze out on some of the engine parts. it is clearly visible and i'm wondering what the hell it is. it only happened when i drove up to school (about 175 miles). aside from that, i did notice a slightly different sound in the engine that i never heard before. thanks for any info.

Could be your Head Gasket.

It was on the inside or outside of the engine? If it's on the outside, look for a dry-rotted radiator hose, or the like, in the bay. If you have coolant inside the engine, more than likely your head gasket (most likely) is toast or even possibly cracked your head or block. Either way, the repair isn't going to be cheap.

check the radiator and the radiator hoses for cracks ...... leave the car running and pop the hood to see if antifreeze leaks from either of those places.

yea, well the leaks are on the right side of the engine, kinda by the air filter, but it looks like its everywhere
