95 Protege, Engine not running
 

Guys,
Brother has a 95 Protege. He had left his car for the weekend to go with me to DC, when we came back on sunday his car didnt run. The engine cranks, but thats about it.
There is spark and we replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump.
Battery is good. All grounds are o.k..
before this the distrubuter kept saying code p-300 multiple distribution failure, but the car ran ok. occasionally a miss at around 70 mph.. keep in mind that he has been running like this for the past few months with the check engine light on with that same error code. could the distrinbutor itself comeplete have failed? if so, that doesnt' explain the spark we are getting.


any ideas?..

oh, and 100k miles on it.. 1.5 liter engine

How much is a distributer and wires?

new, they are quite expensive, over $150 if i'm not mistaken. the local junkyard had the same car, but with no distributor.
