What A/C Compressor for 1997 DX??
 

Help!!

The A/C Compressor in my 1997 Protege 1.5L DX is seized....
It's a Sanden 4953...I looked for this on various sites and went to various junk yards..with no luck....but I did get an email from on site saying that my car should have a Sanden 3005 not a 4953. They didn't have either type so weren't trying to sell me a 3005!!

Can anybody out there tell me which one I should be looking for.
I have since found a remanufactured 4653 available in Mexico at a reasonable price but need advice before I order and Mazda were not at all helpful.

I dont know what you were saying about the Sanden 3005 vs a Sanden 4953, but my a/c compressor seized and the dealership was trying to charge me 1g. I found the part, for 100, dealer was trying to charge me 600 for refurbished, and they put it on for me, because I didnt have the tools. All you have to make sure of if it fits a 1.5 L and if it is SOHC OR DOHC. Call around junk yards and car part.com. Your bound to save money. You'll probably get a recharge on your ac and change your driving belts while your down there.
