spiral max?

I was flipping threw an imports car mag and came across and advertisement for this: http://www.spiralmax.com it sounds interesting but I have no idea how valid this is or if it can be used on our cars, i'm going to call tomorrow if i can but i thought i'd post this and see if anyone has anything to say about this or knows anything about it. It claims to add up to 35hp and almost 32% feul effeciency. let me know what you think.

To me it sounds like just another one of those cheap "Tornado" things you put into your intake pipe.

I just looked at the picture, and I found that is IS the EXACT same thing as that "Tornado" thing. I dont know of anybody that has one, but I have heard nothing but negative things about them. You can buy one though, and tell everybody how good or bad it is.

The FTC (I believe) has already claimed this as a farce. I've been through a few non-Mazda boards, and they pretty much say the same thing...DON'T BUY IT.

The construction looks flimsy as well (in particular, the blades), hence the possibility of the engine ingesting some unwanted metal.

never heard of the tornado thing but thanks for the info, and warning about them.

I don't see how it helps? In theory I am sure it should help, but realistically, All your doing is setting a time bomb for when your Throttle body is gonna suck up some unwanted crap (the Spiralmax)

It doesn't even work in theory. I asked a fluid dynamics engineer (M.I.T. graduate). It's an airflow obstruction.

If it's right before the throttle body, it MIGHT create a better fuel mixture, according to him, but most modern car already have swirling fins in or close to the throttle bodies.

Bottom Line: USELESS and a hazard if it's of poor quality.

PseudoRealityX, is it something I said or do you like spiralmax?

I was looking at the picture and was thinking the same thing. Great idea for a bulletin board. I like the animated BS flags.
