MX6 4 banger
i know i have these stupid ideas all the time....
but i was wondering if anyone has though of what would happen if the old mx6 4 banger turbo motors were put in the proteges would they fit??? or is there a reason nobody has thought of this sooner? |
how much bigger can it be?
its still a four banger... or because it isnt B series, thats why it wont fit? |
what if you used the transmission from the mx6 as well and axles and everything
reason why i wouldnt use the bpt, is because i was talking to a guy who had corksport install his he said it was a very expensive swap because it didnt work out as planned... he had to use a haltech, and the car still stutters at certain rpms he said the car is super fast, but not all that drivable i figure if i could get a turbo motor from the mx6, it would be much easier than ordering a gtx motor thru corksport or something like that the hood problem isnt a big issue with me a custom hood could fix that once the motor fit in the bay |
thats true...
but all of our options sound somewhat complicated.... i think im gonna stick to the original plan of swapping to a regular 1.8L engine and some cams im not lookin for crazy power, i just wanna be in the 15's and be street drivable thnx |
MX3 V6?
Since we are on the topic of stuffing different engines other then BPT or 1.8L on second gens, what about the 1.8L V-6 from MX-3? A) Has any one done before? B) Is it going to be easier to do upgrades to it? C) What are its original specs? Thanks to whom ever answers.

hehe
ive already asked that question my friend it doesent physically fit into second generations.... it will fit into the first gens, but since it has the power of the 1.8L motor, you might as well put the 2.5L V6 from the mx6 in i know a guy that did and he runs in the 14's at the track with his V6 323 i think ive asked every question about motor swaps :) but nobody seems to want to answer my thread about 1.6L miata head on the 1.5L bottom end.... if anyone knows anything bout that please reply to it thnx |
OK, last question. I know there is a big chance it might never happen, but what about 2.0L V-6 from Lantis, like this one:
http://www.mazda-community.de/teambilder/wai6.jpg Lantis, like it seems to me, shares the platform with 2nd generation protege, so I think this could be an easier job getting that engine in, rather then trying MX-3, or MX-6. By the way, does any one know if this engine is realated to the 1.8 V-6 in MX-3? Thanks. By the way, here is the link to more info about that car: click here |
