What year is that??
Sorry dawg, but you won't be the only 323p turbo. Just wondering, is that the 4 door or hatch back??
There is still debate as to wether the BPT will fit economically under the hoods of second gens.

There is one guys that has done it, I think his name is pin0yi30y, and here is a pic of his car:

He obviously put a lot of money into that car, and he said it was a rather difficult swap, but now he has close to 170 BHP.
I also know that Bruce95fmla is getting one too, in his 95 Protege. Basically, it is duable, and if you have the engine, I would suggest you ask plenty question from pin0yi30y, to find out what else you need to finish your project. Good luck.

umm.... you have a 323F, not a 323P from what I can tell... and it'll be considered "2nd gen"

That is sweet, where are you from? From what the guy said who did do the swap to the bpt engine it migh be better to just get a 1.8L from the same gen as yours and beef up the internals and add a turbo to it.

im from iceland

Bruce95fmla January-27th-2003 11:35 PM

One thing I know is that the 1.8T in that car would be off this world (like ALF) ..The engine should fit , with some 2nd gen accesoried , Or you can get the BP 1.8 motor and then drop a turbo on it ,.. at any rate sweet car bro ....

turbo

how much would u think a engine switch would cost to transfer a 1.8L into my 1.5 L 96 lx? I want to get a turbo for the car and it seems like this is the only way is there any other turbo for a 1.5

Bruce95fmla January-28th-2003 11:21 PM

no turbo for the 1.5 , but you can custom make one , wich when u think about it , is not hard , and the 1.5 is a stron engine , so it should be able to take 5-6lps of boost with proper fuel added and other natural things ,,,..
well I figure price wise you should spend like 300-400 for the custom manifold , about 150 or less for the turbo , wich does not have to be new , cause u can use something from another car, and then u have pipping and so forth , wich is not as bad as you may think cause a lot of things you can just order a bunch of pipes from like jc whitney or whoever sells 90 degree bends and put it all together ,.. maybe a s-afc , to control things ( I don't know much about s-afc's) but I am gonna learn ,... and blow off valve and u should be set aside from some other things ...

Or ............ you can get a 1.8 and drop that in , a lot cheaper if you do the work yourself , same goes with the turbo , I just priced a 97 1.8 at 850 ... so ..... and I can most likely get them cheaper, and u know what I was just reminded that the kia uses the same motor ,, so imagine the posibilites .....

you can either go turbo 1.8 or high reving NA 1.8 ... I am actually starting to think the NA way is the way to go , cause at the track they are running with the Turbo's with no porblem

turbo 96 lx

I was talking to my friend one day wondering how hard it would be to but a turbo into my car? We fig on taking the a turbo out of a 323 which i belive is a IHI vj20 or a escort gt turbo which ive seen that has a vj16. The thing we had wondered is besides for adjusting the manifold to fit the car and a custom down pipe where would i go to get the rest down? thats wehrer were stuck.
