Manual Trans greasing

On some cars people change the transmission fluid/oil.
  • Should it be changed on a manual tranny?
  • I've heard that it should never be changed after a certain time or milage. is that true?
  • What are the + or - about doing it?
  • Expensive?

Anyone wanna help?

It should be changed at 48000 km.

Look into your, or some other Pro of the same year Owner's Manual. There is a chart in there that tells you when to change different fluids and when to perform different maintenances. If you do not have, I will look into mine tomorrow. And if Kansei got that number from his owners manual, than there you go.

manual gear oil is on the scheduled matainance for 48000 and again at 96000 service checks by Mazda, some of the intervals changed in 2001 models. Thats the schedule we follow from Mazda Canada. Also we use 75W80 gear oil.
