Timing is not a common issue with BP engines . How long has the car sat up damaged ? The reason I ask is I had a distributor fail sitting on my work bench waiting for parts. If you don't have spark try a known good distributor first.

Car was damaged in the end of Nov or early Dec of last year, so it's been sitting awhile now.

This is a little far fetched, but I've seen some timing belts loose their teeth and so they wouldn't turn the rotor inside the distributor.

Mazda changed the design of the belt and gears on most of their cars and that eliminated that problem for the most part (except the MPV till 98)

It wasn't on a Mazda, and an old timing belt can still do some fucked up shit like that.

This exact same thing has just happened to me. One thing I noticed is the fuel gauge shows empty yet it was full when I left the car last. I have a 92 LX. The last things I did were washing the car and I took out the back seat to clean out a spill that got underneath. And also I was backing up without the ignition on and backed into a curb. So
1. I am going to check under the seat to see if I disconnected the fuel pump accidentally somehow with the wires under there. Is this possible?
2. Could the moisture from washing the car have screwed up my electrical system?
3. did hitting the curb do it?
