Engine grounding/ power gains
 

... Just to ask whether someone outhere have enhanced the engine grounding and found some torque gains...

1st gen guys did it... Wil(Groharlem) did it and found better accel and idle and a few other gains ...

What exactly is involved with this??
I assume its more than just a Ground wire from the negative battery terminal, and engine to chassis wire??

there are a couple of posts around that give some good pictures, and a really good idea of what it entails. Some people buy the kits, some people do their own custom dealie (cheaper)

i haven't tried it yet but i will someday. i have a 79 porsche 924, very early implementation of fuel injection, and it has a ground coilpack. braided steel 5mm wires connect to various points, however, its very complex as they are all the same length (about 10"s each. since the coil is in the middle of the compartment, its easy to go to the tranny, engine head, engine block, frame, battery, exc.

judging by this and my limited knowledge of electronics learned in elt 101 and 102, the grounds should be timed as they may be sensitive to grounding pulses. i'd guess if your building u'r own 'ground control' (no pun intended) you might want to use a multimeter to see where there is resistance so you know what area's need grounding, then try to make all your wires the same length, and somehow keep it clean.

also, dont use speaker wire, expecially if going to the block or the head, they could ground VERY high current at any given time, who knows, 30-50 amps? that will melt a 16 guage wire. use plug wires, buy a generic set of plug wires for an old ford crown vic, they're a foot long each and are 8.5mm's. you'll get 8 wires plus a distributor coil wire for <$15.
