custom cai

i'm thinking of making a custom cai like the one on the teamdelsol.com website --

http://www.teamdelsol.com/howto/coldair/diycoldair.htm

and i was lookin for some info on installing this system on my car, since stuff will be different considering the different engines. has anyone installed a system like this on their car, and what was the intall like? i know ill have to reverse the intake, and any other info would be great.

If i can find all the parts without ordering anything i'll definately give it a try, looks simple enough.

the only stuff you'd need probably would be the piping, clamps, and a filter. shouldn't end up costing more than 50-60 bucks.

I already got the filter, all i need to do is buy the pipe and clamps.... It will probably be next week sometime though

i got an intake tube for a 92-00 civic and i got a cone air filter to fit onto it...i cut it just after the batter box to make it all fit...then i put the mass airflow sensor on the end of the tube and the filter on the end of the mass airflow sensor...it took us a little while to make it work right but its fine now...sounds awesome...at high rpms you can hear it sucking in lots of air...feels and sounds much better now...i also unhooked the negative side of the battery and held the brake for like 10-15 seconds to reset the computer just in case...easy job and only cost about $60...WAY better then $100+...if you need any help e-mail me at mustang302gt89@yahoo.com

Okay, not bullshiting anyone here but.....

I am the ORIGINAL creator of that DIY CAI. No, really, I am! That guy got the idea from my DIY post that showed and described a prototype system I made. I was making them (just like the one that you saw) for other Si(R)'s and they do cost more than $60 to make. The piping is available from JC whitney and its HEAVY! It is NOT aluminium! Its aluminised steel! Big difference. Try to look for some mandrel bent piping instead. And good luck! And let me know if you find any aluminium tubing-okay? email me for help if need be.

ps. My member name on www.clubsi.com was cdjeff.

I built a pretty good TRUE CAI for my car, but I used intakes off 3 different cars.
One off of a civic, corolla, and beretta
I cut the pipes and angled them properly and now I get air from the bottom of my bumper

and the good thing about the 2nd gen pros is that they got splash shields all around that area, so water is minimal
