air intake
is it worth buying a reactive intake or just get a K&N air filter for my 95' LX or should i just not even waste my money bacause its not going to do much to my car? and if either is goin to do somthing meaning HP's then how much will they give me?

Personally, I would not do it. If you want things to look under the hod good, then get it. Otherwise, its going to cost you more to buy one then to build one yourself. Secondly, you will only find HP gain at high RPMs, very little though, and you also will find you accelerator response better. On the bad side however, you will loose mileage. I went from 30/35 to 20/27 city/highway, respectively. It was not worth to me, so I put the stock one back.

you can hear what an ractive full intake and a aftermarket muffler would sound like here
The Ractive is a cool intake and comes finished in chrome (shiny) with a filter (that is not worth crap) and the adapters and stuff.... I like it ... car runs sweet with it , never had a problem with it , so i am satisfied Bruce |
wont work
you link said temparoly out of service

I have been looking for an intake for my 1995 ES 1.8L with not much success (the ractive is only for the 1.5/1.6L I think) and was thinking about just going with the K&N part...but I'm not willing to sacrifice that much gas milage. The Ractive filter should fit the 1.8 also .. I will know once my motor swap is done ....
Originally posted by Sphexi I've never heard that one before...was it the intake or the drop-in. If it was the intake are you sure it was installed properly? Over how long a period did you try it to determine the drop in gas milage? Anyone else heard of such a drastic drop in mpg? Re: Re: Gas Milage dropped by 10mpg???
Originally posted by turbonium959 It was an intake, I put it together with some scrap exhaust pipes bent to what ever angle I needed. I even had my air temp sensor plug into one of the pipes, but that did not do anything. I will atempt to put it back in, because since, I did a complete fuel injection cleaning, so maybe all that carbon build-up screwed with my mileage, but I have the intake for about 6 months, and on my DX model, the feul gage is almost as big as the speedometer, so it was noticeable how fast the gas was consumed. |
As I have previously said, I have it back to stock now. Though, I kept all of the parts, and if I will get around to it, I will create a clearer image of what I have done.
