1.5 exhaust manifold T3
 

Who would have access to try fit a T3 in our manifold... I believe it could be done kind'a easy and cheap... Where I live there is no turbochargers available so that I could measure it and think about a way to make it fit here:

The manifold for sale on Ebay, is just an OEM replacement. I would think it be rather hard to fit a turbo to it, considering it is a cast piece, and not welded together. But I am not 100% clear of what it is you are trying to say. Please explain a bit clearer. Thanks.

I have an idea of what you are trying to do . but to be honest I don't think that will work , A t3 would fit in the space where the E.M. resides, but I don't know bro a T3 is pretty big for a 1.5 .. I would think more along the lines of a T25..
but never know , find someone to do a custom flange , maybe things could happen, but could that many support the weight (extra) ..

I was thinking on doing that on my 2.0L, I think it will work. But on a 1.5 a T25 is a better choice.

If I knew it would fit in there I would definetly give a try. i dont know a T3 would be large for it. after long talks with Braden (turboge) he said that a T3 would be nice in there. I actually would like to see boost only above 4krpm. But this is not the point here. All I would like to know is if the turbo flange would fit in there. particularly speaking once it fit, the project is done. 1.5L are looking for this a long time, and I think it could be done for this dirty cheap route. of course manifold probability to crak exists, but not a short time. Gee If I lived in Chicago or any big area with minimal resources...

Twistec has popularized the use of a stock cast exhaust manifold that has the bottom chopped off and a flange welded on. This design is efficient in packaging. The cast manifold is very strong, and although tedious, when properly welded, the flange mounting is good as well. This puts the turbo down low, which is generally a good thing. The main drawbacks for this manifold is that horsepower is limited by the extremely small stock runners. It is also not equal length. However, it is cheap to build, and effective for a low boost setup.

nice.... there it goes. people dont have to complain more about parts for 1.5. With 70 bucks can have turbo manifold and from there their own turbo set up. Run NGK BKR7-11 with 92 octane, 2 degree timing retard (sufficient to retard timing without interference by the ECU), no IC initially, 5 psi of boost, 2.5"mandrel aluminum pipes (JCWhitney) silicone or rubber couple (Home depot). Everything for less than 700 U$ (which includes a brand new T3).

I wish I could have more time to start this project, but as Bruce and other already knows, I will be parting out the pro soon, not that soon, but soon enough to dont have time to enjoy it while boosted.

You 1.5 owners should spread out this info and have once for all this project done, until someone else come up with a better turbo set up. Of course I am talking about serious people who were looking hard for this in the past (include myself), not the ones who like to have flame kits in the exhaust (no ofense ;)

this could work. check this site out. i was looking at those manifolds on ebay too! i was thinking about what turbo to use. i was even checking out those old post braden put on protegetech.com to find out what turbo he specified. i would love to use a t3/t4 turbo. but yes, t25 would be a good size. flanges are not a problem on this website.

I am pretty confident that you can do it and it will work. Right now it does not matter what size or what air/exhaust ratio to use. All it matter now is have a manifold done (a T3 flange I heard is good to fit several others chargers, not 100% sure though). Find someone to weld the flange into the OEM manifold and BINGO ! People could buy manifolds on ebay, send directly to whoever weld the flange on and have it ready to custom set up. No body, I mean NO BODY here where I live has TIG weld or would eager to do this favor for me. I tried ALL muffler shops around. Its up to you know guys !!!!!
