$2300 to spend... what should I do???

I have a 95 Pro lx (1.5 liter). I have $2300 to blow on it and I need some suggestions on what I should do. I am looking to up the power (who isnt?) what would be something that I could do with that much money? I am getting some headers made by larsen motor sports at the end of feb. So that is out of the question. Does anybody have any ideas as to what I should/can do with that much money?

doood, look on EBAY, if u dont have an accnt...GET ONE. They have INKTAKES for $35 ShIPPED, you can get a cheap muffler, and you should get some front and rear Strut Tower Bars. (will improve handling!. There are some otherthings u could get like, TINT, SUBS, a nice amp...new speakers...
SHit like that. GO ALL OUT, if u feel like it. Im goin for performance, not sound (audio)...AUdio comes a lil later...like over the summer when i can bring in some mad cash from work.

ttyl, my sn is in my Signature. Look me Up!

Well I already have my windows tinted, and I have konig tantrums on back order. I was thinking about getting a erebuni ground effect kit or a mazdaspeed kit. Which one should I get? I also already have a system, so thatis out of the question too. That turbo idea isnt a bad one, but i just cant seem to find a set price range on how much it will actually cost. Some people say it will cost about $1000, some say it will cost $7000. Can anybody give me some really GOOD info about what I would need to do, and how much it would cost???

MIC please !!!!!!
.... ok after reading some of the posts that these nuts , i call friends put up , I would really suggest swapping the 1.5 out for a 1.8 first thing , ... You can get the factory 1.8L or go the way of corksport and get the BPT ,. but to be honest i would get the 1.8L from a local junkyard,.. should cost about 400 - 600 depending on compression , . You have sites like mazdaautorecycling.com and the such wich can get you these engines and crap ,. I would suggest that you call them tell them you want to do a 1.5 to 1.8L swap and you need everything engine wise plus computer and wiring harness..................

2 ND option

You can get a crashed , salvage tittle Mazda Protege 1.8L from a salvage yard, you can stop off at your local Bodega and see if they have a crash car magezine , and look for a hit 1.8L they usually run like 1grand , 2 grand at most ... With this you will have everything you need aside from a radiator maybe to complete a full engine swap on your car . just transfer everything from the 1.8 to your car and you are set ....................
If you can do the work urself and are therefore mechanically inclined then you are even better off....

don't really bother with rims and exhaust and stereo , if you really want speed ,, get the speed first and then go for bodykits , mufflers , stereo and all that jazz ................

PUTS THE MIC DOWN !!

I thought they didnt make superchargers for the 1.5.... I am open to many ideas though. I could sell the header quickly because i know a lot of people that want one. So i wouldnt necesasarily say all that is out of the question. What company would make custom pistons? And what is a Haltec? (sorry for the lack of knowledge)

Jason

jaymersh19 February-3rd-2002 11:30 PM

Thats what I thought Haltec was. The only problem is that If i did decide to go stand alone I would have NO EARTHLY idea as to what I was doing.

And what about they supercharger. Do they even make them for the 1.5?

Jason

chdesign February-4th-2002 07:31 AM

Here's an idea just buy a CRX with a blown motor (500) bucks and then buy a gen1 B16A1 engine from ARD Performance 1300 bucks and have low 14 second quater miles all day long. or buy a ZC engine 900 bucks and a 1200 buck greddy non-intercooled turbo and run high 13's.

Buttersideup February-4th-2002 08:00 AM

Go to Skip Barber or Bob Bondurant and learn how to really drive. If you can't go fast with 90hp, 900hp won't help you.

jaymersh19 February-4th-2002 09:40 PM

hey pseudo.... what are the websites to those companies? (JE, Endyn, Probe industries)

Shawn February-7th-2002 12:00 PM

corksport sells jspec pistons as well as Mazdaspeed compression pistons for 1.8L and 2.0L engines. Does anyone know the compression ratios for these pistons respectively?

ZoomZoomH February-7th-2002 12:13 PM

I agree with Dean here, go to one of these top-of-the-line driving schools and learn something that'll be with you beyond your car.

I know if I had that kind of cash that's what I'll do...

Why would I go to a driving school when all I want to do is street race? (you know... stop light to stop light) maybe I dont know what i'm talking about, but I dont think it takes a driving school to do that. All I want to do is at least reach 130 horses or so and I will be satisfied.... kinda.

Jason

ZoomZoomH February-7th-2002 01:18 PM

I'm just suggesting what you COULD do, and what I WOULD do with $2300 to spend

or, since you're just gonna do stoplight-to-stoplight drag, you can hook it up to a bottle of N2O, instant 130+hp whenever you need for less than $1G!

then you can spend the rest of the money on anything you want! :bt:

I sat here for fifteen minutes trying to come up with reasons why but gave up. You're right...driving school for you is a waste.

I knew someone would say, "Its so you dont crash into people and kill them. Dont RACE on public ROADS!" When I wrote about the street racing I knew it would be coming. But you know what i mean. I just want a little more punch under my hood.... WHO DOESNT???
