Throttle Body
 

I was reading about someone cleaning their throtle body. I was wondering if there was a how to anywhere on this? I want to do it but dont want to kill my car. And i was also wonder whats a good spark plug for a good price?

Good spark plugs for our cars are the NGK's. A lot of people seem to be very happy with them and their price is good also.:)

yeah if you're not mechanically inclined that might work ok.

I recommend that you remove the throttle body before you clean it, especially if it's never been cleaned before. It's simple to remove, and once off, you can do a much better job at getting it completely clean, and you won't be blasting all that carb cleaner and throttle body gunk into your engine.

When reassembling, you'll need to replace the gasket. Also, be sure you reconnect everything you disconnected to remove it.

When I cleaned mine, I immediately noticed better throttle response, a smoother idle, and much better feel from the pedal. Before I cleaned it, I really had to press the throttle before anything would happen, then the car would "jerk" off the line.
I can't recommend this enough to anyone who's never done it before and has 60k or more miles on their car. Cheap, easy, instant performance gain.

Since the initial cleaning, I clean it once a year, with it on the car, but I spray the carb cleaner on the rag and wipe rather than spraying directly onto the body itself.

Just spraying it with carb cleaner is like washing your car by spraying the top half of it with a water hose.

when you spay it into the tb doesnt it clean the intke manifold as well?

what about just giving your throttle body a good bore while your at it, or is this not adviseable? i was thinking of this matter a couple weeks ago, just never got too involved in the thought. most people live on the fact that no matter what you try and spray in your engine that it's all just marketing hype and won't do shit (ie fuel injector cleaner, octane booster, etc.). i'm neutral on this topic, i mean what exactly gets in there that hurts your throttle response/idle? i mean, everything entering your throttle body is thoroughly filtered, what could you possibly be getting in there that hurts performance? i mean, sounds like to me somebody just got lucky by reassembling their intake and sealed off all their leaks. wheres the proof? show us a pic of the inside lip of your throttle body. thanks dude
