Strange clicking noise!

I get in my car the other day.... and there is a strange clicking noise coming from my engine?.. From a phone call i was told that it was probably the timing belt... but i have no clue. It's a constant click while idling and it gets faster as i accelerate :(. I hear if it is the timing belt then it can only be fixed professionally. They say it requires some expensive tools i don't have...

check your oil level.
Yeah, its probably HLA noise, very common with these cars. Add oil or do an oil change, that usually works. Mine was getting really bad so the last time I did an oil change I also did an engine flush. The noise is gone for now.

highly doubt its your timing belt. when i had clicking noise it was my clutch bearing. also the oil level could be low, but your timing belt no. i dont see how a rubber belt can click.

i know exactly what it is, could be one of 2 probs if u say its coming fromn the head.

1. your valves could be bent or out of line and are knocking (ticking)

2. if this clicking is somewhat loud, it is 99.9% sure that your lash adjusters are fucked which is a very common problem with mazdas. if this clicking goes away after a little while while driving off (anywhere from 5sec's to 1 minute)then it is for sure the lash adjusters.

good luck
