Spark Plugs?
Whats the best plug for performance and your money?
|
From what I've read on the board NGK's are what most people agree on.

Well you could buy plugs that cost $100 ea. that would outporfrom any spark plug out there, but it isn't going to make a diff. unless the rest of your ingition system is also changed, do you see what i'm getting at? So buying "high performance" spark plugs isn't going to make that much of a difference that it'll be noticable.

never underestimate the power of stock.. for most intent and purposes the harder materials will give a better spark

when i had my 1st gen I always ran NGK plugs ,I found the car always ran better on these.

NGK sparkers are the better way to go. i had bosch platinums in my car, just had a change and i can tell you one thing, they corroded like a mofo, stick with ngk coppers.

Spark Plugs
Does anyone think NGK's platinums are worth paying the money for or should I just go with their basics? I have a G2, and I am doing nearly an entire ignition system upgrade, magnecor wires, new cap, new rotor, etc. as a part of my own 90K service and tune-up and I was figuring to go with platinum plugs since they're "best". Bosch platinums are inexpensive but it seems a sound agreement amongst most Protege/Mazda owners that NGK plugs are best for our cars. NGK Platinums gor for $10.99 each compared to NGK V-Power which are $1.59 each. Money is and isn't a problem, meaning if there is a justified benefit/gain I don't mind dropping the extra $40 bill...my baby (car) is starting to get up in her years now so I figure this is the most important time for her to have the best...

wibble
stick with ngk stockers, or maybe a range colder if you're running anything more than 5psi over stock boost.

Bosch suxors
I checked my spark plugs today, bosch platinums i installed about a year ago...and they were all black. It's mainly due to my car running rich at the moment. But i'm working on that. I'm going with NGK coppers from now on.

so if jap is a racial slur, then why wouldn't germ be? Also if anyone uses US or USA instead of spelling out United States of America, well just be careful, you might offend someone. I think it's pretty obvious that he was just abbreviating the words. From now on if any one says Jap make sure you put a period at the end ie: Jap. that way it can't be taken as a racial slur but only as an abbreviation. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but i really don't see anything racial about this. I guess if some one was directing it at a Japenese person then i could see where you are coming from. He was merely talking about spark plugs.
<edit>ohh........uhhmmmm.......uhhhhhh............ NGK's i guess<edit> |
Bosh VS NGK.
Just for the record I had both normal Bosh plugs and platinum Bosh plugs in my VWs and when I tried normal NGKs in my Jetta GLI they were better than any Bosh plugs. I think NGKs just kick ass. So if you have a german car dont think you have to stick to German stuff. German parts are soooooooooooooooooo expensive.
