sloppy shifter

ok guys, i just acquired a 92 dx with 211xxx miles. she needed a radiator, new belts, and now she runs strong.

the thing is, the shifter is crazy sloppy. I can find teh gears, but, for instance, if i am in first, the shifter is loose enough to be where third should be.

how exactly does one go about tightening the shift links/cables?

is there any specific suggested adjustment?

TIA

get new bushings. there are 3 points which have bushings. under the shifter lever, and at the ends of both shifter links.

That's my problem too- my 1990 SE @ 201,000 miles is sloppy...where do you get new bushings??

Thanks,
Richard

If you PM the user "Gro Harlem" , he may be able to get you the stabalizer bushings. For the other ones, I guess you will have to buy new stock ones from a dealer.

jsut go to ur dealer and ask for ur shift linkage bushings they were like 5 dollars cdn for me and it took me like 5 mins to do
usually u only have to replace the ones the closest to the actual shifter
