Seatbelt light comes on for no reason
 

For the past couple of weeks now, my seatbelt light comes on when I'm driving. The seatbelts are on. It seems like it only does it when I turn a corner or hit a bump in the road. Would it be a fuse or something??? Please help!!:(

In case you can't tell, I'm new here, I'm just getting started on this whole forum thing. I don't appreciate the whole "Lazy" comment. Next time, maybe you could kindly tell me where it was. Oh yea, thanks for the info.

You know what...I thank him in pointing me in the right direction, but there is a difference in being lazy and not knowing what to do. Me, I'm new and I DON'T know what to do. As for every body is lazy, speak for yourself, I am far from lazy.

well welcome to the board non the less and i had the same problem with mine, either you have low brake fluid
or
you have no brake pads left which make the cailbers push further causing less fluidin the punp hence light coming on

the light doubles as a low brake fluid light also

i replaced my pads rotors and topped her off with fluid and low and behold no light!
:D

and i assume you already got this info but id thought id just put this in to be different and instead of flamming you, the newbie

Does your car beep when the light goes on, if so, i had this same problem, so i took out the fuse, yea, i might have to tuck under the belt everyday, but its better than hearing that damn beeping and havin my belt jerk...IMO, you should just take the fuse out n deal with it.

Semtex, I think that the is refering to the seat-belt warning light and not the parking brake/low fluid light :)

the other thread pointed to by Chastan would be a good starting point for checking out the switch that controls the little bugger.

Hey thanks...sorry I took it personal...I just can't stand being called lazy...I am so far from it. Thanks for all the help...I think I'll just have to take the whole center cosole out. Again...sorry for being a bitch.

The thread that Chastan linked you to is one way to fix this problem. It's what I tried first, but it only lasted a couple months. The permanent (and extremely easy) fix is this:

Remove the center console cover, two screws in the back, two in the front. Sit in the back seat. You'll see two round spool contacts with plastic cover plates. Pop off the cover plates. Under each one is a round contact disc with two wires attached. Pull one of the contact discs off and cut the wires from the disc. Strip the two wires back and splice them together with a crimp connection, or you could solder them together too. Just make sure you short together the two wires for one side first, then do the other side. Replace the plastic cover pieces. That's it ... bye, bye annoying beep and light ...

Naw, I didn't really mean that you're actually lazy...I just meant I thought I could save you some trouble and try and find some results for you...in case you were feeling lazy. ;) It's only in jest, I'll try to be more careful next time with my wording :)
