Rear washer fluid sprayer

I have a 91 323 hatchback, and I've put washer fluid in, and when I try and spray it, nothing happens. This is for the back hatch window. I'm thinking it could be a clog, or the pump may be broken or something. What should I do?

btw... im 16 and its my first car.

well... if you can figure out how... try switching around the pump for the front and rear one... and see if the rear one starts going (just swap the hoses, and remember it will shoot out the wrong one if it works)

If it's very cold out there, make sure that the fluid is not frozen in the small hose........it shouldn't be, but it's a good idea to check.
After all, it's probably pretty cold in Canada.:D

i have a protege not a 323, im not very knowledgable with the rear sprayer. I could give u some suggestions thou.

1. Check fluid level
2. Check to see if fluid is frozen
3. Check the lines and see if tey are cracked leaking etc as well as teh nozzle.
Does the pump run or hummm while u try to spray? Start taking it apart adn guess and test to see if you can get it working.

Worst case scenerio, u have to take it to the dealer :-p hehe

jus try messin round wth it!

;) Youll prolly figure it out. Mazdas are pretty basic

its definately not frozen, i live in the mildest part of the country :p
as for the pump, i cant really tell if its humming, I'll just look at the lines, as I said nothing would be frozen, and the fluids in there. thanks again.

ok well, I looked at it, and thats where I'm seeing some difficulty. I couldn't get in there to look because I cant remove the plastic interior rear side panel without breaking it. Theres one screw, which I removed, then like 3 plastic rivets, that can only be removed by busting them off. I had filled it half way with washer fluid, about a week ago, and when I looked today, it was basically empty. I dont know if its in the hose or something. When I try and blast that stuff onto the window, I dont hear any pump sounds.

How can I get in there to look at it?

On my protege the line got disconnected and it was spraying in my motor :( check the lines see if they are frozen or clogged i think the pump will make a sound when u use it ...Jon

I've concluded that its the pump causing the problem. Now I dont know how to access the pump. it should be right below it right? In order to get to it, i would have to rip off the interior side panel back there, and I cant remove that without breaking it.

If anybody knows how to get to that pump, please inform me!
