Radiator Blown: Replacement?
Hi guys,
We blew out the raidiator (well, actually, we broke the temporary fix we put together made of industrial strength epoxy) tonight shooting some footage for the site, and I want to replace it with a better radiator. What can you guys recommend? Is it worth getting a custom one done? Are there any out there that will perform better than stock? Should I just get a stock replacement? Let me know, and as always, don't forget to sign up to be notified when the site is online. Thanks. |
I went through 2 radiators in the 12 years of owning my Protege. It seems to be an inherent flaw. The both cracked in the exact same place on the top tank. I finally replaced the rad with one with a metal top and bottom tank. Never a problem after that. BTW the first one went 3 months after the warranty ran out.

rad leak
ok i have the same problem, cracked plastic top. could i replace it with one out of a ford escort or sumthing, or do they have the same flaw?

I got mine from www.radiators.com
don't remember how much I paid for it but it was the best price around.................fit perfect and cools better than stock (or at least that's what the company says) |
The first time it cracked, we put some super epoxy on it. I don't remember exactly what it was called, but it worked well.

I bought my first one from the dealer, ouch! That was pricey. I think it was $600 CDN. The metal one came from a local rad shop in town for about $220CDN. He had said that he had a bunch of these rads in because he had to replace a couple of fleets of pizza delivery 323's with the exact same problem!

When I replaced my radiator, I went to Napa Auto Parts and got a new one for $300.00 it had a metal top and bottom, and it cools great, dude i recommend going to a local auto part store and get one that has a metal top and bottom.
