Project Off-Road 323
 

Hey, I've had my 323 for a few months now, and have yet to insure it. I've decided to turn this bad boy into a wicked 323 dirt blasting machine!

Plans:
-Lift IT!
-Fat Tires!
-Cup Holders

Right now, I'm looking into getting some 15's and possibly some new snazzy rims. To lift it, I'm planning on using those rubber things that you stick somewhere down there. And finally the cupholders will finish it all off. I'm just wondering if the LX cupholder will just slid into the little open, empty hole at the bottom of my console, as my car does not have cupholders, and cupholders are a neccesity when it comes to complete beverage enhancement while driving through puddles, that will be absolutely conquered by my 323.

so rubber bushings is what i'm guessing is going to help you out? just an idea, see if the Mazda B series trucks have any similarities to the protege... maybe find an idea there? either that or an air bag suspension, who knows, good luck on the offroading protege. and do me a favor, if you lift it, make it rediculous, seriously, not like the amc general station wagons, i'm talking higher, maybe some custom fenderwells and everything? who knows... mmm, protege monster truck, now there's an idea...maybe throw in a bpt and figure out how to run straight pipes for noise and alcohol just for kicks, you'd be the envy of the redneck community! :cool:

yeah, do what Demon said, make it ridiculously high, like "jesus christ, who the fuck would raise the car that high" high. That would be cool as hell, and DEFINATELY, post pics once you are done.

ya, thats definately the plan. I dont want a mediocre job, i mean, the 2wd isnt going to get me anywhere, so the lift will be the hilight. Nice and high, I'm sicking of having to bend down to get into the car... hah. I'm not sure what the rubber things are, or wat theyre called, but my brother knows and hes going to be helping me through this all, so once I know what I'm actually doing I'll post. And pics too of course, hopefully in a week or 2.

Good luck lifting a car with 4 wheel independent suspension very high.

I think to get the cupholders in there you pull out the big piece of console that goes all the way around the stick shift, I think it's only held in by 4 screws though. :)

buy some shitty coil overs and raise the spinners on them all the way up. you can get a good 6 inch lift. i would suggest making a carboard body kit, thats just funny either way. you will also need like 6 hella lights across the front bumper. Done and done.

once again, slop lives up to his name... sloppy performance! i don't know where that was going but felix brought up a valid point, each wheel is independently suspended... and if you're not looking to keep this thing street legal, a roof rack and a shot gun rack are in good order.

funny how u plan on lifting this just for rallying or goin offroad, i take my pro out through mud constantly, only got stuck once of about over a dozen times offroading... u should just take a few hits on the underbody and keep it the regular height...

See, now that's an Idea!! I had the same a bit ago (it's in a thread somewhere's down yonder in this forum). I want to do that to my car as well, except it's actually a 4WD car; however, I probably won't be getting to lifting it anytime soon. As it is, I'm saving up for the GTX conversion.

Its actually more of the look im going for rather than practicality, seen as how it is 2wd, and lacks any real power. I will definately take it offroading, but not rallying or anything, just a fun project, because my car is looking a little boring.
