mazdaspeedwest February-10th-2003 06:58 PM

i have an EFSM, but no way to scan it...yet. If you just need the pin outs of the 3 plugs, i'll type it up tomorrow for ya.

UCSBgeek February-10th-2003 07:21 PM

maybe I'll go get it out of my car later... but it's all the way behind my apartment building...and i'll damn lazy :p

Loundarp February-11th-2003 06:37 AM

the pin out of the connector will be good.

UCSBgeek February-11th-2003 07:19 AM

Hey is this what you're looking for? Sorry if it's off center it's kinda hard to scan as the page is long :)

If not I'm sure Daryl can help, or he can tell me what page to scan :)

As far as I can tell, yes, if they are providing power I can't see which is (+) and which is (-). I remember when I was playing with mine only one of the plugs affected illumination, so that sounds right. Daryl ought to be able to help more :)

thats the correct diagram (Z-42) the 1A and 1B are for the panel and switch lamps. (1B) Red is the dimmer (1A) Red/Black is the parkinglights or Illumination.

Charles, if you can, Z-80 shows all the lamps.

thank for the info, this will help me for my swap, cant wait now hehe :D
i'm happy i found this site :)

Is that a diagram for the EGT or a Pro? Are they electrically compatible?

From what I understand, clusters are easily swappable in the Pro. However, the wiring between the Escort 4-gauge cluster vs the Escort 3-gauge cluster is totally different.

Is this the one? Our page numbers don't line up after all, Z-80 is something for the California emissions automatic B6-E. Guess your mileage may vary. :)

kcbhiw, these are the protege diagrams, loundarp is putting a Protege cluster into his EGT I think. And welcome aboard Loundarp :D

edit:: Well I guess you're not new here, but welcome anyways

this 2 pic is for the protege cluster.

some people did the 3 gauge to 4 gauge swap in the escort and i thing they need to move some wire but is posible to do.

Chastan, thank :)

I attempted to do it in my Escort, but there were quite a number of wires that needed to be moved, I really didn't feel like messing with it after I mapped them all out. Mechanically, it'll plug right up; electrically it won't. When I get home tonight, I'll try and find the map I drew if you're interested.

kcbhiw, yes it will be nice to know that.
you can check whit the guys on escortracing at http://www.hyperlnks.net/phpBB2/index.php

i know some lx come with the rpm (my 96 lx have it) so maby this is what they use to switch.

wheeeee!

Hey, Loundarp, it looks like we're working on the same project!

I've previously modded my wiring from the standard cluster to the sport cluster. It wasn't really too hard, just some rearranging inside the connectors, and I had to add 1 lead from the EDIS module for the tach, and then splice in 2 additional +12V leads (on the standard cluster, the temp/fuel uses a common +12, and the tach needed one too, as well as a separate one for the little logic-board module thingy)

Yesterday, I got my protege cluster actually fitted well into the dash of my 95 Escort wagon, but found out very quickly that the wires don't quite match up. With the help of this post, I think that this weekend I should be up and running with it.

Loundarp, have you got yours wired up and working yet? If so, can you email or post a map of what wires you put where? Thanks!

*sigh* all this for a 20mph increase in the guages, and a 1/2" larger diameter guage. but they're centered for the protege, and off-centered in the escort, so its easier to see the tach without the steering wheel getting in the way with the protege clusters.

Pics of my installation to date are HERE
