Is my car getting enough fuel through the filters?

My car has still been acting weird, it starts perfectly after the car sits for a couple hours or overnight. But if i do some stop and go driving it will start but idle very roughly, and sometimes it wont start, like not enough fuel is getting through the filters. it will turn over and everything but nothing is happening, then i have to wait about 10 seconds and then it will usually start. But when it starts after that, the hood rattles and the car shakes like a virgin getting it for the first time. yes it shakes that bad. My guess is the filters are going bad since the lady who i bought the car from never changed them, and also i was thinking maybe the fuel pump? what do you guys think?

I think this is a condition called hot-soak? There is a TSB but it doesn't mention your model.. I also remember reading about it on the cartalk website somewhere... :dunno:

check out this link and click on 1st generations and then click on the TSB at the bottom which says: B006/95 ENGINE IDLE VIBRATION IN D RANGE

and see if that makes any sense.

i had a simialr problem i changed the fuel filter on the firewall and checked the wiring on the pupm under ther back seat and it worked fine ever since

the crap that came out the fuel filter was pretty sad, really over due for a filter swap

Well I just went and got my fuel filter changed, but when they were done, the engine light came on. It wasn't on when I went there. They said that there's something wrong with my TPS curcuit and the speed sensor. What do you guys think??? They cleared the codes to make the light go off, but they said it will come back on, it's just a matter of time. It starts up fine now, it doesn't idle rough for now. I'm thinking of selling it...I don't want to put all my money into it if it's gonna cost me a fortune.

since it's stopped idling rough... the TPS is plausable I suppose. But if they blamed the rough idling on the TPS that is a bunch of baloney, the throttle cannot be any less that 0, it will not give you less fuel than idle. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know everything :))

But the thing is, my car is still idling rough...it got a little bit better, but not that much.

Better fuel filters

I replaced my fuel filter awhile back. It's another stock one, plus it's a pain in the ass trying to get those stock clamps off of those tiny hoses that connect to the filter. But what do you guys think is the best fuel filter for a 1st gen Pro? Im sure there are freer flowing fuel filters, I know they make them for Civics all the time, but hopefully they got em for Proteges. I got to run, late. :D
