My 93 dx

k, just figured that since i finally got them up to the net i'd go ahead and post a link... here is my car http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/x0panda0x...tos.yahoo.com/

not much done to the outside yet...

x0panda0x May-14th-2002 07:52 AM

thanks :) shhh, don't tell anyone about the vent visor, lol.... yeah i had the back vent window replaced cause someone was trying to steal my car and just never got around to putting it back on :D

x0panda0x May-14th-2002 09:17 AM

haha, so canadians really do say eh after everything, lol :D j/k

i'll get some engine shots once i'm done cleaning it, just put the new radiator in this past weekend, before that the old one had leaks and was spewing orange rust water all over the engine compartment :( i have pics of that, lol, i'll post those if you want, but i'm going to get it cleaned up and everything thursday and i'll post them either thursday night or friday morning :) cool and i'll even get some pics of my interior and the custom trunk my friend and i never finished

x0panda0x May-14th-2002 09:47 AM

lol, you just want all of my busted pics, lol.... i'll post them tomorrow... i'll make sure to get pics tonight after work.... you're a funny man

x0panda0x May-14th-2002 10:52 AM

cool, i'll try and snap a few on my lunch break, how about that? :)

x0panda0x May-14th-2002 12:37 PM

lol, well just got back from lunch, you'll have to wait for the pics until tomorrow

islandpro May-14th-2002 07:44 PM

Yo kevin about time you get some pics up. The car is lookin good:cool: See you got the old factory bumper on. Still working on the other or have you given up on it? Stay away from those curbs man haha. :p those sprints look good. no new struts yet tho?

Post those pics!!!!:p

Maz94Protege May-14th-2002 09:19 PM

love da car!!!

WERD TO THE BEIGE PROTEGE OWNERS!!!!

x0panda0x May-15th-2002 06:33 AM

damn straight, i love the beige color, it looks nice and it looks cleaner longer :) lol

ok, update, i'm going to upload the pics i took this morning of my car to the net in about 5 minutes... i'm downloading them from my cam right now... i would have gottne some more of the interior for anyone who wants them, but the back is dirty and it looks like any old first gen interior with the tan interior, lol... i have to clean it all over for mapp 3 this weekend so there will be replacement pics of the ones i already took :) and all of the interior will be taken and everything...

bryan, yeah.... thanks. i had to get rid of it, as of now all body kit stuff is put on hold, i want more go than show :D once i have that then i'll get some show.... hey man those rims came scratched but hey $400 plus stock rims for some 17" Konig Tuners seemed like a good deal :D that and they're not to heavy either, granted i've curbed the hell out of them since i've owned them but they're far from new (psssst, you also can't see, but two of them have dents in them, lol) :bounce: thanks, they feel good to, especially with the sway bars i got from darryl, except for the fact that i've lowered the car, so i have to really watch out for bumps and stuff cause it only leaves me like 4-5 inches of ground clearance under the front one :( kinda sucks, i've drug it on the ground a couple of times, but hey on the bright side it makes a really nice bottom out bar to protect the bottom of my engine    nope, going to get some new struts once i go full time at my job and/or get that part-time job at radio shack then it'll be time to save up for that engine swap, woooohoooooo

x0panda0x May-15th-2002 07:54 AM

awwww, shucks now i feel special, like a role model and stuff, lol.... just let me know if you need any help, ok i just posted my new pics i took this morning.... it's my unfinished trunk, my still not as clean as it could be engine, and my radio

x0panda0x May-15th-2002 09:00 AM

hey damnit, how'd you know it was a ractive? lol, heck if i know, but i noticed a difference :) hahaha, funny guy what's so funny?

x0panda0x May-15th-2002 09:26 AM

haha, yeah, they're the only ones with that kind of heat shield looking design in multiple colors :P

so, i'm not a worthy role-model huh? i don't blame anyone for that one

x0panda0x May-15th-2002 09:38 AM

ahhhhhh! nope, not yet, getting it very soon though :D that will definately help with air flow also when i get the bpt woooohoooo:eek:

x0panda0x May-15th-2002 10:07 AM

you know, i have no clue, but i would think since the rx7 vaf is larger than the stock maf that i would need a different adapter but i'll look and see and i'll let you know.

x0panda0x May-16th-2002 07:48 AM

ok, for anyone who's interested (mike) lol

i just uploaded more pics of my car, they're underbody shots... got my dirty muffler, lol, both sway bars and the new radiator from the bottom. :) i had it on the lift yesterday to do some work and figured what the hell, so there ya go.

x0panda0x May-16th-2002 08:32 AM

well, i can take this one off ramp that i was limited to about 65 before at about 80 or faster and it's a pretty tight turn... i mean i feel the difference, the chassis is stiffer and there is alot less body roll, all i need now are new struts all around and to replace all of the bushings in my suspension, lol....

that's because it's the amrican pro, eh? lol :the finge just kidding, i did put a layer or two of black rubberized undercoat on it about 2 months ago when it was on the lift, god that undercoat crap was nasty, don't get it on anything you don't want it on  trust me, i was taking skin off to get it off my arm, hey or don't get the cheap stuff like me :D lol

x0panda0x May-16th-2002 08:36 AM

oh, if you want to know, darryl craig (mazdaspeedwest, i think that's how it's spelled) on this group is where i got the bars, the only thing that's bad about the front bar on my car is i've lowered it 2" so it's like having a huge bumper on the front = no ground clearance (5" tops) other than that the bars are great, i hit those with rubber undercoat to until i can sand them down and get a paint touch up kit for my color of my car and the clear coat and i'm going to paint the bars, drums, and valve color the same color as my car, or get them powdercoated the same color :)

x0panda0x May-16th-2002 10:38 AM

nope, but all of the suspension bushings are rubber and look like they'd enjoy a retirement to the trash can and let a new batch come in to take their place.... hmmm, so those are tie bars? that works, now all i need are struts, new bushings, strut tower bars and anti-sway bars.... woohoooo, more money, but i want that damn BPT first

x0panda0x May-16th-2002 11:00 AM

umm, gonna mix and match suspension techniques or something like that, the polyurethane bushings from a couple different kits :)

hell if i know now, you just confused the hell out of me, now i have to research :P thanks mike :the finge lol

haha, i hear ya, but see... there's a big difference in wanting to swap your engine and needing to swap it, it's not as much fun if you have no choice, lol.... yeah, i'm waiting for the engine to give me an excuse to upgrade the exhaust :D

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 06:06 AM

it's sad, i don't think anyone is really reading this :( :( they could offer up some info, but that's alright...

i just mean i'm going to replace anything in the suspension that is rubber either with the polyurethane or new rubber, just so there is less play in it ... thanks for a lead on some stuff :) i have to sit on here and look for all of the different bars, this could be fun

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 07:42 AM

i will...

what do you mean? putting the DOHC head on and all that junk? i don't know but there was a thread on one of the forums about that i think, you could check and maybe it'll help.... hopefully soon i can tell you about the BPT swap :D

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 09:07 AM

hmmm, yeah i just started hearing about that one 2... well, check under the 1st gen/323 and the 1st gen/323 engine-drivetrain forums, i know there was some talk about this swap on there, but i didn't read to much of it as i don't think the kl-ze is turbo ready just yet and i reall really want a turbo :) i love the sound of a good blow off valve, sends a shiver down your foes back and just gives me a chubby  lol

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 09:19 AM

haha, i'll check, i just might, but i had planned on putting it in myself at a shop where i can use a lift for bout 3 or 4 days, lol i want to put the elbow grease in, that way i'll know my car inside and out.... i'll check them out i might do it that way or even swap in the kl-ze

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 09:40 AM

that sucks i couldn't imagine doing it that way anymore :) but you also have one more advantage on me, your car is 2-2.5" taller than mine is right now, that's alot

did i mention they also have air tools and just about any tool you could ever want?

Dont worry about your learn. ;) Get your self a good manual if you dont have one already. start off doing the small stuff first then work up. :D

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 10:09 AM

yeah, it all comes in time... shit when i got my pro 3 years ago all i knew was how to change oil, now i tackle any job :)

Easy there kevin you dont have to rub it in that bad. :p i will still have access to air tools. and all the tools that i will need to do it.
also mine might sit higher but yours looks better.

x0panda0x May-17th-2002 10:17 AM

that's good that you'll have all the tools.... thanks for the compliment :) the car will be happy to hear it....

hell even with all of the tools it's going to be a pain in the butt swapping the engine i think.... lol, when i finally get the engine and get it ready i'm gonna start talking to braden and get all his advice and knowledge and see what goes from there.

woohoo...go research! :) then explain it to me...i'm pritty sure thats what tie bars are..and strut bars...but i've never heard of anti-sway bars..... maybe someone else will read this thread and offer advice....anyone? ...anyone?

Others are reading it.

The deal with the pro VAF vs. the rx7 VAF:
Both intake adapters are the same. I actually have an extra one if you are interested.

The suspension questions:
The tie bars that darryl has posted on his website connect your lower control arms in the front and rear. You won't notice much difference with them, maybe just a stiffer ride.
Anti-sway bars are just what they say. They connect at the bottom of your stuts and keep the car level in the turns. The natural force of the weight of the car pushes towards the outside of the curve. A car with a larger diameter anti-sway bar will be able to take a turn tighter then a car with a smaller diameter anti-sway bar. Your big suv's have big diameter anti-sway bars. If they didn't, they would flip over everytime they turned the corner. The 90-94 lx pros have a anti-sway in the front and the back. The 90-94 dx only have one in the front. Also the amount of oversteer and understeer is affected by the larger diameter anti-sway bars.
As for the upper strut towers. They hold your body together. As you might have noticed, they bolt to the body on the studs from the struts. This is to keep the car body square in the turn. I know that the rear strut tower is more important to tight turning then the front. You can find threads on that.

All these ideas are what I have discovered in my researching in the past year. I have looked into it and I am holding back on the tie bars for right now. I am getting the zx2 struts from ford and either eibach prokits or h&r springs to go with the struts. Then I am working on a brake upgrade kit. Not to mension my rx7 intake which i am fabricating little by little.

Well hope this helps you out.

x0panda0x May-20th-2002 06:24 AM

thanks patrick, that was lots of good useful info and it saved me the time of having to figure it out :D lol so, the adapter for both the MAF and the VAF are the same size and everything? hmmm, that sucks, but cool, i already have one which my filter is on now, thanks for offering. hey, i noticed my dx has an anti-sway bar on the back, i was looking the other day when it was on the lift, hmmm, well that just gave me something else to do for the suspension, thanks for the info man
