kia sephia
the sephia is faster that us?

a frined of my blow her engine and when go to buy an engine the seller say that the pro dohc work better .and some body say to me that the kia pistons are longer. thats true?

The first gen (mid-90's) Sephia was basically a rebodied first-gen Protege DX with the LX motor/trans. Small brakes, but otherwise very similar to the Protege. I would be surprised if it was faster, IIRC it was a little heavier than the Protege. The second-gen Sephia uses a different chassis and their own (claimed) engine design.
And the Protege was never the fastest car in its market segment. Only the most fun to drive, as well as having the largest interior. I don't think that there are any fundamental changes between the engines, although the '94 engine that Kia uses does have the proper 9.0:1 pistons that the '90-'93 engine lacks (8.8:1). |
personally i think they are ugly. and they might have the same engine as ours...but proteges look a hell of alot better than some korean pos. (no offense to our asian friends):D

Well I was at the junk yard the other day and I found a KIA 1995 with 36K so I pulled the engine out and got it for $200. So Did I get and engine with a little higher copretio ratio than the one I got right now in my car? I got a BP DOHC 1990. Should I do the swap ?
One thing I noticed though the Kia spedometer only went up to 125 mph, is the RPM 7000 on this engine too? |

No, not really I was thinking of installing this engine in another 323 like mine. Is this a slightly better engine ? I know it is a Mazda engine even though it says KIA all over the place, but it looks alot like the Miata engines. Does this engine has a little higher compresion ratio?

i think has the same ratio
|
The Kia motor should have the '94 spec actual 9.0:1 compression ratio (as opposed to the virtual 9.0:1, actual 8.8:1 of the '90-'93 LXs). Unless your current LX engine is dying, there isn't enough of a reason to swap. I doubt the compression ratio change is good for more than 1-2hp. Although, it may actually be the '95-'98 ES engine, which has less Hp, but slightly more torque (slightly different cams?)

Kia uses a forged crank.

Interesting nugget of info:
Flyin' Miata is using a Kia block on the GRM Open Track Challenge. |
I'll see if I can get a picture of it, but it looks like the Miata's
|
Ok some one mentioned that it was a Protege engine and that's what it looks like .. http://www.geocities.com/lonestarrd/J-eng.gif

ahhhhhhhh craaaaap !!
I got the manifolds from a BP engine intake and exhaust and they fit perfectly to this engine. I know there is a 1.5 L but Is there a 1.8 L or 2.0 L engine for the Pro second generation? I really don't know much about them. |
