JDM BG grill on a egt?
does anyone know if a BG (90-93) grill would fit on a egt? if someone has a egt that they could test fit it on i just want to know if it 1) fits inbetween the headlights the long way and 2) if it fits between the hood and flat part of the bumper.
i know that the egt's have that little piece that comes up in the middle of the bumper, but im getting a tracer bumper soon, and they dont have the little hump. so if it will fit in there then i want to get one of those JDM grills. 1 step closer to the ultimate mazda escort :bt: |
I have a 90' Protege and a 91 Pony Escort in the driveway.
The BG grille is to long and wide for the Escort. Mounting points are also incompatible. Here are the measurements; 1. Escort Grille = 25 5/8" X 4 1/2" 2. Protoge Grille = 28 5/8"(Top) , 28 2/8"(Bottom) X 5 1/2" However, I did notice that the distance between the fenders are very nearly the same, 52 7/8" on the Protege and 53" on the Escort. I point his out because one may be able to fit the Protege headlights and grille into the Escort. You would have to swap the complete mounting basket of the headlights. These baskets would support your new grille along with the existing hood latch mount. You would have to fabricate mounting brackets from the fender to the headlight baskets. You would also need your Tracer bumper to accommodate the wider Protege grille. Also all body trim directly under the Protege headlights. Because the Protege headlights lense are narrower than the Escort , one would have to trim cover the bottom inch of each front signal marker of the Escort to match. Don't forget the wiring harness for the headlights. It would be alot of work. Hey, but if your after that certain look... might be worth a try. |
thanks alot man. very helpful info...i might be trying that swap, Espec Familia headlights, euro escort corners and a jdm gtx grill
