I need help, car feels like it's gonna DIE!!!
My car has been doing this very often. It does not do it when i start the car in the morning, it does it after i stop to go somewheres and come back to start the car. the car starts but drops it's rpm's to around 300-500 and just starts shaking really bad until i step on the gas and go for about 2 to 3 seconds. i've tried starting it then rev right after it starts but the car still shakes vigorously. when i come to a stoplight or anything it's perfect, it doesn't shake or anything, it's just when i go to start the car. sometimes it starts perfectly, no shaking or anything. i have no idea with whats wrong, can somebody please help

check spark plugs / cables.
this thread could also be of some help. http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...threadid=19643 |
i need to change both anyways, i guess now would be the best time since they have never been changed from when i bought the car. hopefully that will fix the problem. what size of wire do you recommend (7 - 7.5 - 8 - 8.5mm). i want to go with denso iridium plugs as well.

I get that same problem, but it only goes down to bout 450-500 rpms at the lowest, its stalled on me once. soon as i get money thats another thing that will be gettin fixed.

check your intake hose for cracks also....
|
well i just had a custom intake made for me not to long ago, about 2 months ago, and the idling problem started a little while after that. i'll try taking off the intake and closing up both ends and using my friends air hose and put it on the valve and see if any air leaks out. thanks for the help

no way did i take the resonator box out, that was one of the first things i learned about my protege was not to take it out. i heard that if you do, it's proven to lose a small amount of power.
