Hubcaps

Could I install hubcaps from another year protege onto my 1990 protege SE? They're the same size and everything. The hubcaps I want to install are from a 97-98. I just want to know if it would work or not or if there's some mechanical differences or something. :T

just find a cap int eh same size as your tires (i can use any 13" hubcap) and youll be fine

Not all caps are the same. depends on the rim. and the offset. not every 14" hub cap will fit every 14" rim. as for newer cap fitting on a 1st gen im not for sure about that.

i got a complete set of 13" hub caps off a 92 protege DX if ur interested

well i have run in to it. mostly if you stick with mazda or ford caps you will not have a problem. its the swaping from mazda lets say to nissan. that there might be a problem.

Models of 1st Gen Proteges that had steel wheels and hubcaps were all 13" (not including the rare DX AWD which had 14" Miata steel wheels). Models of 2nd Gen Proteges that had steel wheels and hubcaps were all 14" (again, Miata steel wheels).

So, to answer your question, so long as they're from a 1st Gen (1990-94 or 199-95 in Canada), you're ok.

Unless you had alloys on the US LX, you had 14" steel wheels and hubcaps.

And other than racing wheels like Keizer or Monocoque, I haven't found a 13" wheel that would fit over the front brake calipers. And many won't fit over the rears either.

i found that out the hard way.....back in 93 when i had the car painted, didn't want to send it in with newly purchased wheels, so i had my brother bring me a DX from the dealer (he was fleet manager) no LX w/o alloys... i pulled all 4 off the DX and then all 4 off mine and then went, uhh, hey, ummm, these don't fit. Jebus Cripes!!!!
