Gen 1 Performance mods

I want to improve the performance of my Gen 1, I changed the intake and muffler, any suggestions on what will work besides NOS.

Well, we'd be glad to help you, but you have to inform us on the specs, (ex... DOHC or SOHC motor, Auto or stick, and LX, DX or SE?)

What motor does it have? if its the lx u can get cams from a few companies .. It shares the same engine as the miata .. But if u want real power i would suggest going turbo with a gtx motor ....1000-1200 shipped with a haltech ecu and Fmic ...around 250 hp ...Jon 93 lx

The GTX w/ a haltech is only $1,200??? from where i went to BLT and the GTX is $850 before shipping. i thought the haltech ecu was alot more than that............like around $1000
Just wondering cus here in about a month or so im going to try and order a GTX motor and am looking for the best deal cuz i know if u dont go with a stand alone fuel management then u have to rewire the harness........oh well let me know tho.

The haltech is a standalone fuel management system right.......just wanna make sure. Thanks

GTX motor is like 1000-1200 shipped ,Haltech E6k is like 1400 Fmic is around 500-1000 larger injectors. I have a set of GTR injectors for sale for 200 shipped with fuel rail if u want them 380cc ..U will need a new clutch-500-700. U will need a new Fuelpump,Guages, and some new tires after u burn them to death with all the power...Jon

The Haltech is a major investment. If one can't afford it, just use the GTX ECU. Again, larger injectors are not needed at the beginning stage and same goes with fuel pump. I'm running GTX injectors and stock fuel pump. My performance sucked though cuz my original fuel pump is meant for a 1.5L N/A. Now the fuel pump couldn't keep up with the GTX engine. It's recommended to upgrade the fuel pump together with the injectors but do get an Air Flow Controller (AFC) to tune down the richness with an A/F ratio gauge.
In terms of the GTR injectors, I'd go for the Eclipse injectors cuz my friend's custom Ford is using them. He has a Silvia in-tank fuel pump and a Merc C300 external fuel pump. For me, I'm gonna chuck away my original in-tank fuel pump and use the Merc C300 external fuel pump once I can get my hands on a used 1st gen Apexi AFC (5 buttons). I used to own the blue screen Apexi AFC but find it hard to tune due to the lack of setting data for GTX engine.

In Malaysia, we get the GTX half-cuts for a mere $660~$730 from Japan depending on the crash condition and parts condition. Oh did I mentioned shipped also? I guess the freight is cheaper due to the distance as compared to the States.

Frankly speaking, I dunno. The GTX half-cuts doesn't come with its fuel pump. Most of us just upgrade a higher flow rate fuel pump.

I will be ordering a few later this month, possibly early january. They run $500 + shipping, comes with harness/vaf/ecu. You can use your original ecu with piggybacks and fuel pressure regulators.
