Exhaust sizes

I have a SOHC 1.8 and my exhaust is dead.....i need to do cat back...i have a muffler.......and a guy that is gonna do the piping.....about $150 canadian for Stainless mandrel bent.....but i wanna know about the sizes i should do .....will the SOHC benifit from 2.25 inch piping....or will it lose power? i don't know exactly what im' going to be doing in the next 2 years for engine.....but possible turbo is in the works... just looking for input...should i stay with the 1 7/8 stock size....or go to a 2.25 ?

WOW! 150 CD for mandrel bent cat back is a SUPER deal compared to US costs!

The recommended size for the 1.8L DOHC is 2.25" for manual and 2" for auto.

so...you are saying....with the SOHC i should probubly stick with 2" and not 2.25"... would there be any loss in power with the 2.25? b/c i don' tknow what i'm going to be doing in the next year...and i don't wanna have to redo the exhaust....would 2" be more effective in the SOHC.....anyone kmnow from experience?

BTW.....its a 92 SE SOHC 5 Speed....

I like 2" on ALL BPs that are still NA, and don't run cams.

Agreed. And when you go turbo you're going to want 2.5" anyways, which is too big for NA, so I wouldn't include future turbo in your exhaust plan.
