18 wheeler with trailer, full load. He came out of a gas station, crossed 2 lanes of southbound traffic, then decided to merge into my lane(northbound) at about 5-10mph going into 45mph traffic. Truck in front of me swerved to the right, there was a car next to me. Only thing I could do is slam on the brakes and the road was wet so it didn't help much. I hit him probably doing 40. He was definetly doing less than 10. The police wrote it up as his fault because he was only about 2 ft. into the lane and it was obvious it was an improper lane merge. I got out with just a hurt back and neck because I had my seat belt on. The whole left side of the car shifted a bit. The back seat was no longer straight and I think it bent my handlebars on my bike I had in the back seat.

damn son. glad your ok. The car did it's job in protecting you!

Back, neck and shoulders are killin me. I got a job where I do a lot of heavy lifting too. I think I'm going to the chiropractic offices sometime this week if its still hurting. Ya, I think the car did pretty good for the impact. It hit so hard the back end came up and the whole car turned 90 degrees.

Thats unbeilvable how well that car held together, can ur driver door still open and close? Hell can that thing still drive down the road?

Yeah, and if I were you id try to collect something from that truck driver...maybe you could threaten to sue them and get a nice settlement that'l practically buy you a new car and pay your health bills...heh I live in NJ so....sueing people is quiet popular here, and just about anywhere these days.

I recently worked at a job that requires heavey lifting (construction work), so I know how that can be, since my back likes to stop cooperating once in a while.

Glad to hear you're relatively ok. Find a lawyer, but don't expect a huge windfall. What kinda bike was in the back? If it's a good($$) bike, take it to the most expensive bike shop in town and tell them the story about the crash and get an estimate to repair it. Make sure that's included in any negotiating.
You might not want to go back to work till you're cleared by a doctor.

My '92 has been through a lot:
-chickens (knocked the mirror off)
-deers (ran into side of car, no damage)
-hit in rear (at least 3 times that i remember)
-rode a fence (attd picture shows damage)
-other stuff i cant remember right now.

I'm going to start going to the chiroprator this week, so thats gonna go against em, and I'll get a little bit of money from that also. I bought the car for $200 9 months ago, put 28,000 miles on it, got hit in the fender in November and got $900. I figure i've gotten my worth out of it. I'm going to demand at least 2k from it though. Drivers door opened and closed after some bending the fender. It wouldn't close straight though. Car wasn't driveable, when I hit the guy I was trying to steer away so it snapped some suspension for the left wheel. Yes, it was a very expensive bike. The frame itself was about a 300 dollar frame. I can't figure out what they hit for them to bend, but I know they weren't bent before. My good friend owns a bikeshop here( www.bradsbikeshop.com ), and he's going to write me up an estimate for those purrdy McNeil bars he's got hanging up in his shop.

You'd better hope their lawyer doesn't know you're here because you really don't want them to know the car only cost you $200. Not that it does't mean you don't deserve the money. Just watch what you say. Maybe you should talk about selling parts and leave it at that.
