Dipstick Tube Removal

My dipstick broke off iside my engine. Now it is as far as it will go down, but there is practically no way of pulling it out. I was wondering, how do you get the tube that the dipstick goes in out?? I've heard it just pulls out, but there has got to be some bolts holding it in. Do I have to drop my oil pan? Or is there an easier better way?

skr33t_rac3r March-6th-2004 07:25 PM

first u get a sohc header and then it comes off

spooki March-6th-2004 07:27 PM

the dip stick tube is connected to the oil pump

ooooh man. i hate to tell you but youve got to pull out your oil pump.

skr33t_rac3r March-6th-2004 08:55 PM

so in all u have to pull off the oil pan and baffel, oil pump and passenger motor mount, passenger corner light, the openheimer valve and then the bolt that holds the dipstick in place

ok, dude. you don't have to be a fuckin smart ass about the whole header deal. F uck you man, obviously you ain't ever heard of fabrication or modification. Thanks for the info by the way, but I don't really think I could trust your advise. Thanks dude.
Oh yea,

skr33t... I don't wanna take sides, because I don't want to side with him (because he sounds like... well, I'll leave it at that).

But when I had my Focus, I made a lot of mods myself, in fact, almost ALL my mods were done on my own. I took a lot of heat because of that. It's not right to mess with someone just because you don't think they can do it. I turned a lot of heads with my Focus when running a 15.9 with less than $100 in mods.

Now, I'm not saying this guy is actually capable of making a header, but you never know until he does, or doesn't. I don't think he can do it either, but I'm not going to mess with him because, what if he can? I magine how much that would show us up.

As for you, rck2, it's time to put up or shut up. Either do it or don't. Don't say you can until you DO or HAVE DONE, otherwise, you're leaving yourself open for attacks like that.

When I said I was going to make my own UDP for my Focus, I did it. I didn't just say "I can do it." I did a ton of research, developed the pulley using laser measuring, and lathed it out to my own exacting specifications. Balanced it to perfection, and viola! I had a perfect 52% UDP... exactly what the Focus cooling system could handle without being overworked. Granted, the pulley later failed due to a later-found problem with the broach used to cut the keyway for the crank, but nevertheless, I made one hell of an impact. When I told my friends on the Focus boards, everyone wanted one as soon as I could get the new broach.

Now, you have an opprotunity here. You can have 1 of 3 outcomes. You can make the header and surprise the hell out of all of us- possibly opening up the opprotunity to make some money; you can make the header and fail, which may get you ridiculed, but at least you tried; or you can just admit this is too much of a project and give up.

It's up to you. And until you put up or shut up, expect to be ridiculed. I've been through it, so I know your situation. And I know what you need to do.

You know, I appreciate your thoughts. I'm not saying anything else about it. And I would appreciate if everyone else stopped as well. The main question here would be what all do I have to do to get this damn dip stick out. It is buggin the hell out of me. Please help. Maybe a how to?

spooki March-7th-2004 11:25 AM

you could go to the parts store, and ask for a oil pump. then you could see how its connected and maybee what you could do to get it out.

skr33t_rac3r March-7th-2004 08:54 PM

the reason why i was messing with him about it is because he can fabricate his own header but he cant open up a service manual and find out how to remove the dipstcik and second he has been talking bout this header for a long fucking time but still hasnt done it and he always says soon

Pro2Go March-8th-2004 08:14 AM

I know... and like I said, I don't want to take sides, because this guy doesn't have much of a clue it seems... but at the same time you never know what he may be capable of.

Maybe he's autistic (no offense to anyone who is/has family/friends who are).
