differences between 323 and Pro

What are some of the main differences between the 323 and the protege?

sgpjr Mar 18, 2003 12:44 PM

Are there any Performance differences?

Protege came with 1.8 SOHC/DOHC

323 came with 1.6 SOHC/1.6 DOHC (GTX)/1.8 DOHC (GTR)

hope that helps some. :)

The 323's also came w/ the 1.8 SOHC in the LX's.

There was no 323 GT-R. And the only turbo motor ever available in a 323 was in the BF chassis, and was the B6T. Being that he's comparing Proteges vs 323s, that implies he's refering to the BG chassis.

I think celi85 was referring to ALL 323s, not just the ones available in North America. Overseas got the BG 323 GT-X and GT-R, both with 1.8 DOHC Turbo engines.

Is it true that the 94-97 miata engine is the same as 94 pro?

The miata 1.8 uses the same BP block, but I think that is about it. Head, manifolds, distributor are all different since the engine is mounted front to back in the miata, whereas the pro's is sideways.
