"Creaking" noise

At first I thought it was something with the left CV or axle, but the boots look great, plus the original owner said he just had that side replaced about 2 years ago. It's really more of a creaking, squeaking noise and sounds more like something in the suspension or body. It occurs mostly when first taking off out of first gear, then some when the front end dives down, then up from first-clutch-second. 153K on the car .... any ideas?

Well, I think I've ruled out the top of the strut. I thought the same thing, but upon further investigation, I found that the noise also occurs when I turn the engine off. As soon as the key gets turned - "creak-creak" (sounds like an old bed spring!). And this is while the car is standing still in the driveway. Maybe it's a motor or tranny mount?

I have the exact same problem and it's driving me nuts.

My symptoms: 1) creaks a lot (like an old spring) when letting out the clutch in 1st and 2d gear; 2) creaks a little in 1st and 2d gear when I press on the gas, even after clutch has been fully let out; 3) Does NOT creak when letting out the clutch in reverse; 4) the creaking started after replacing the clutch.

I've sprayed LOTS of silicone on the engine mounts and the strut mounts. It still creaks.

What could it be?

You guys want to hear something totally bizarre and unexpected? I detailed the engine today, the Gunk and Greased Lightning routine, and my creaking noise is gone!:dunno:
I'm at a loss for the reason why, but I hope it stays that way for good ....
