Any cheap ways to increase HP?

I have a 91 DX and am looking for some cheap ways to increase HP. I have a stainless steel muffler welded on. I plan on buying some performance sparkplugs and a performance air filter. Right now finances are tight and I am only looking to spend about $125 max on mods. Any other cheap ways to gain maybe 4-10HP?

When dose welding a muffler ever add any Hp, just adds noise. Having a cat-back system will add hp.

1.RX-7 vaf
2.Cone filter and adaptor off E-Bay
3.UnderDrive Pulley System
4.Ground Wire kit
5.Fill your motor/tranny mounts solid
6. Find a 3rd gen shifter (not really hp, but its still performance)

There are a few posts on the boards saying that pullies are bad for proteges...any oppinions?

I've got an Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley on my car, and it's worked perfectly for two years. It's not "bad for your car" in any way. The only negative side effect is that your electrically driven components (lights, stereo, etc...) will be slightlly underpowered at idle. It's hardly noticable, and worth the extra oomph you get out of your motor. The minute you blip the throttle and are moving, your RPM's drive the alternator fast enough to have everything running perfectly.

and just remember that cheap and HP never go in the same sentance ;)

sure they do...

Well what causes the engine to fail? And whatever it is I assume its only for turboed cars?
