93 Protege that is very hard to start

I have a 1993 Protege with the DOHC engine and we have just replaced the head gasket maybe a week ago. There were a few other problems that we had but we got the car running fine. I drove it to the gym and it heated up quite a bit before the temp needle went back down. after that it stayed at the normal level. When I was leaving the gym it wouldn't start. Eventually I got it to start but i had to constantly hit the gas pedal. Later it did the same thing at a cigar shop I go to. It is turning over but it is not wanting to start. It sounds like it is going to, but it doesn't. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear em. Thanks!

Well, I would definitely start with a full tune up. Change the plugs, plug wires, filters etc. Then see what happens. If you have to take it in, the shop is going to do all of that first anyway. Might as well do it cheap now and eliminate any possible issues.

Well we think now that we blew the head gasket again, or something to that affect. Got water/oil coming out of the tail pipe again.
