'91 cuts out!

Hi folks!
Glad I finally got to this forum!
Nicelly done!
I have a problem with my car cutting out. This happens when accelerating after a freeway speed pass (after decelleration to enter back in my old lane), when accelerating slightlly going up steep hills and during crusing (no cruise control on car) when you speed up just a little after backing off the gas.
The car sputters, tries to gain revs, but cuts out.
If you pull to the side of the road, let it idle, it goes well till you try to accelerate from freeway crusing speed. When accelerating from a stop, the car is OK, grabbes all shifts well(auto trans) and cruses steady... till you press on the gas a bit to pass.
At speeds below 50 mph, it drives fine.
We just had a tune, injector flush, and fuel and air filter change.
Please, any ideas!

Yeah I had the same problems when I first bought my LX. It's pretty annoying isn't it?? Well what my dad did was flushed out the fuel lines and replaced the fuel filter. After that I have had no problem. Good luck.

Thanks Robert!
Mine's a LX also.
Nice little car.
I do a 212 mi roundtrip commute to SF every day, the little car and I are gonna be good friends!
The daughter had Midas do the flush and tune up, befor giving me the car. I dunno about those guys...
#1 it is going back to them to re-do the work cause they did NOT get to the problem for her $450 the first time.
Next, I will run the valves myself to ensure perfect tolerance, (I was wiened on a Dodge HEMI, back in the 60's, but they're very important for good power in anything).
If that won't do it, I am going to try everything again from square number one!
I'll post it if and when I find the problem.

Well, others are covering the fuel issue, I was thinking it might be the fuel pump. But I don't know how to diagnose that. :dunno:

'91 cuts out

Charles,
It is just the opposite, it cuts out after driving at a steady speed, then accelerating.
Like to pass a car on the freeway, or accelerate up a steep freeway uphill hrade.
I am told there is some sort of resistor in the distrubuter body that craps out???
I sure hope I can find this problem! It dosen't shoe during diagnostic codes, and I'd hat to get stranded!
Thanks for the attempt to help!
